Gérard Darmon's Unique Travel Essentials

In an exclusive interview, French actor Gérard Darmon shared the items he always packs in his carry-on bag, offering a glimpse into his eclectic travel habits.

Known for his prolific acting career, spanning over 70 films, Darmon has become a frequent flyer. However, he prefers to pack his suitcase last-minute.

Music is an essential part of Darmon's travels, and he acknowledges the importance of his headphones, often forgetting them during his journeys. To compensate, he packs his carry-on with Iris by Santa Maria Novella, a favourite toiletry, and l'Eau de Cologne du Coq de Guerlain perfume.

Darmon's love for sunglasses is evident in his collection, which he takes with him on every trip. Among his favourites are a custom-made copy of the sunglasses worn by Jean Gabin at the César Awards ceremony in 1976 and sunglasses that are copies of a pair from the film "Le Grand Bleu." He changes sunglasses according to his mood, using them as a way to express his personality.

One unusual detail about Darmon's travel habits is revealed in this interview: he always packs Le Journal, a newspaper signed by Jules Renard, in his carry-on bag. He also sometimes packs an unread book, such as One Thousand and One Nights.

Darmon's fear of flying is well-documented, having been afraid of it for a long time. Yet, he has learned to cope with his anxiety, thanks in part to his collection of sunglasses, which have saved him from morning interviews at Cannes.

In addition to his love for sunglasses and books, Darmon's essentials for travel include underwear, socks, and slippers. He packs 12 pairs of sunglasses when he travels, ensuring he always has a pair on hand.

Despite his busy schedule, Darmon has shown an interest in cosmetics recently. He admits to having been afraid of flying for a long time, but his love for travel and his unique travel items have helped him overcome his fear.
