On-site Vaccination Centers Come to Health Services Establishments
As the colder months approach, the Holy Cross community is experiencing an increase in sickness. To combat this, the university is taking several steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its students.
The Health Services office is offering flu vaccines to students, and over 350 students have already been vaccinated at the on-campus clinic. Getting vaccinated against the flu will help protect students from sickness and keep the people around them safe. In addition to flu vaccines, COVID-19 and Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis) vaccines are also available at the clinics.
The requirement for Covid-19 vaccines for students, excluding those with medical or religious exemptions, was announced by President Rev. Philip Boroughs, S.J. on April 27. The views from those in favour of this requirement can be found in the "Opinions" section.
Walk-ins are welcome at the vaccine clinics, but appointments can also be made. The QR code for signing up for the vaccine clinic can be found on posters in Hogan 1, and the link is: https://www.holycross.edu/health-services/student-illnesses/influenza-information.
The flu virus can infect other people one day before symptoms develop and up to five to seven days after becoming sick. So, it's essential to take precautions and follow the advice of Health Services, which recommends resting, drinking plenty of fluids, and taking over-the-counter medication if necessary when sick.
The next vaccine clinic will take place on October 25 on the fourth floor of Hogan. The Holy Cross community is encouraged to have confidence in the safety of coronavirus vaccinations, as there has been a significant amount of disinformation about them, leading to a lack of confidence in the public.
In other news, an excited group of 45 freshmen visited the Joyce Contemplative Center on September 27. The views from the center are scenic, offering a peaceful retreat for students seeking a moment of calm amidst the busy campus life.

Stay healthy and safe, Holy Cross!
