Online Arabic website construction platform, Egypt's Wuilt, secures $535,000 in seed funding
In 2019, a Middle Eastern startup named Wuilt launched an online platform for creating Arabic websites. The founders of Wuilt are Ahmed Rostom, Mohamed Hegazy, and Mahmoud Metwaly.
Wuilt has raised $535,000 in seed funding from various investors including MENA Technology Fund, Daal VC, angel investors, and Flat6Labs Cairo. Abdulrahman Alqahtani, CEO of Daal VC, believes that enabling Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by providing them with state-of-the-art technology to create their digital frontier is not an easy task, but he believes Wuilt will become a great success story in the near future.
Omar Hassan, the Managing Partner at MENA Technology Fund, shares Alqahtani's optimism, believing in the early traction Wuilt has achieved and expressing excitement about the startup's functionality and product roadmap. Marie-Therese Fam, Managing Partner of Flat6Labs Cairo, also believes in Wuilt and is excited about their promising traction, huge market opportunity in the MENA region, and the amazing team behind Wuilt.
Wuilt's platform supports both Arabic and English and helps individuals and businesses create Arabic websites in as little as 5 minutes. The startup offers a 14-day free trial for its platform, but no changes in this offer were mentioned due to COVID-19.
Due to COVID-19, many offline businesses that previously did not have an online presence were forced to build one. This situation has led to a spike in Wuilt's numbers, although the startup has not shared further details.
Wuilt is serving over 30,000 free and paying users in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. About 30 percent of Wuilt's customers are from Saudi Arabia, but this percentage might have changed due to the COVID-19 situation.
In addition to website creation, Wuilt is planning to launch an ecommerce enablement platform. However, no further details about this plan were shared. Wuilt's plans for website creation start from $5 a month and go as high as $15 per month, but no changes in pricing were mentioned due to COVID-19.
Abdulrahman Alqahtani, CEO of Daal VC, believes that enabling SMEs by providing them with state-of-the-art technology to create their digital frontier is not an easy task, but he believes Wuilt will become a great success story in the near future. The startup's commitment to serving the Arabic-speaking market and its promise of quick and easy website creation make it an exciting venture to watch in the MENA region.
