OpenDA prior to Juventus shift - Elmas heading to Napoli clarified by RB

In a series of exciting transfers, RB Leipzig is gearing up for a new chapter as Danish striker Conrad Harder joins the club from Sporting Lisbon, while Belgian forward Lois Openda and Dutch national footballer Lutsharel Geertruida are set to depart.

Conrad Harder, who scored an impressive 13 goals last season, including one in the Champions League, has finalised his move to Leipzig on September 1, 2025, for a total package of €26 million. The striker is expected to make his debut for the German club soon after signing.

Meanwhile, Openda, who joined RB Leipzig from RC Lens for 40 million euros in 2021, is nearing a departure. After a strong debut season with 28 goals, Openda fell short of expectations in the past season, scoring only 13 goals in all competitions. Reports suggest that the Belgian national footballer is en route to Italy, with rumours of a potential move to Juventus Turin.

Openda's contract with Leipzig runs until 30 June 2028, but the clubs have agreed on a loan with an option to buy for Openda. The total package for Openda's transfer is said to be well over 40 million euros.

Lutsharel Geertruida, another Dutch national footballer at Leipzig, is also poised to depart. Geertruida made 22 appearances for the club but failed to make an impact, and a deal between Geertruida and AFC Sunderland is nearing completion.

Eljif Elmas, who joined RB Leipzig from Napoli in January 2024, was loaned out to Italian Serie A side FC Turin in the second half of the season. Now, Elmas' return to SSC Napoli has been confirmed.

With these transfers, RB Leipzig is shaping up for an exciting new season, as Conrad Harder prepares to make his mark on the team.
