Firefighters in North Rhine-Westphalia Show Solidarity After Ratingen Incident

The Association of Firefighters in North Rhine-Westphalia (VDF NRW) has expressed its thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured emergency services personnel in Ratingen. The incident, which has deeply affected many emergency services personnel across cities and communities, both professional and volunteer, is reminiscent of common deployment scenarios.

According to Dr. Jan Heinisch, chairman of the VDF NRW, a sense of solidarity among emergency services in the state has been evident following the deployment in Ratingen. He also expressed gratitude for the many expressions of solidarity and wishes for a speedy recovery from the Association of Firefighters in NRW.

The VDF NRW can be reached at Windhukstraße 80, 42277 Wuppertal, and contact information for Christoph Schoënborn includes telephone: +49 (01 70) 2 21 80 32, and email: [email protected]. The association can also be reached online at http://www.vdf.nrw.

René Schubert, chief fire officer of Ratingen and a member of the state association's board, explained that fire departments, emergency services, and police often work closely together in common deployment types. Protection of emergency services personnel from violence is virtually impossible in some situations, including ambushes that cannot be anticipated.

The Association for the Promotion of Fire Protection in Ratingen e. V. has established a donation account for the injured firefighters and their families. Donations can be made to the Sparkasse Hilden, Ratingen, Velbert with the account number DE81 3345 0000 0042 1116 74.

The unity shown throughout the state in the face of the dire situation for the severely injured emergency services personnel is heartening to Dr. Jan Heinisch. The impact of the incident in Ratingen is particularly great for emergency services personnel because they have participated in similar deployments. The information was transmitted by the Association of Firefighters in NRW e. V. and originally appeared in news aktuell.
