Opposition party FDP calls out AFD for manipulating facts
In the ongoing session of the Stuttgart State Parliament, a contentious debate titled "Creeping loss of cultural and pedagogical self-determination of our children" has been initiated by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) faction.
The debate, which has been marked by heavy interruptions from the Greens, SPD, and FDP, stems from accusations made by the AfD against a candidate, who they allege promotes a right to abortion until birth. However, no new accusations or specific details about the alleged promotion of such a right have been presented.
The Greens' Marilena Geugjes has accused the AfD of attempting to "stir up a culture war", while FDP's Alena Fink-Trauschel criticised a statement made by Brigitte Johanna Henkel-Waidhofer (CDU), who called the AfD debate "the worst of AfD". Henkel-Waidhofer's statement, however, does not explicitly name the person referred to as "the worst of the AfD".
During the debate, Rainer Balzer from the AfD explained his stance, while Fink-Trauschel countered by stating that Henkel-Waidhofer's comments promote "half-truths and scaremongering". The AfD's debate title remains unchanged at "Creeping loss of cultural and pedagogical self-determination of our children".
At the time of writing, no new members or parties have joined the debate. The session continues, with the Greens, SPD, and FDP continuing to interrupt the AfD faction.
