Opulent Nuptials Held at the Noble Residency of Liechtenstein's Royal Family
In the heart of the Alps, Liechtenstein, a country half the size of Bremen with 160 square kilometers, played host to a royal wedding on Saturday. The bride was none other than Princess Marie Caroline of Liechtenstein, who is considered Europe's richest princess by the Swiss tabloid "Blick".
The wedding ceremony took place in the cathedral of Vaduz, the country's capital, where the bride wore a stunning long white dress adorned with intricate embroidery and puff sleeves. The groom, Leopoldo Maduro Vollmer, a Venezuelan-born investment manager, was by her side.
Leopoldo, who has a professional background in investment banking, began his career at Cambridge and has been an investment manager in London since 2016. The Liechtenstein princely house, to which Princess Marie Caroline belongs, is renowned for its wealth, derived from its bank, real estate, and forest ownership.
The current head of state of Liechtenstein, a constitutional hereditary monarchy, is Prince Hans-Adam II. The celebration following the wedding took place in the castle of the princely family, but the details of the celebration were not discussed.
It is unusual for a princess to marry a commoner, according to noble expert Lisbeth Bischof of ORF. Normally, it is the commoner who marries a princess. However, this royal wedding marked a departure from tradition, with the bride being a member of one of Europe's wealthiest royal families and the groom a successful investment manager.
Liechtenstein is home to approximately 40,000 inhabitants, making it one of the smallest countries in Europe. Despite its small size, it has a rich history and a vibrant culture, as evident in the grandeur of its royal weddings.
This wedding is sure to be remembered as a significant event in the history of Liechtenstein, marking a new chapter for the princely family and the country as a whole.
