Outdoor Movie Screenings at Osterfeld Cultural Center and City Theater
The Kommunales Kino Pforzheim and Kulturhaus Osterfeld are set to bring a delightful summer of film and entertainment to the city, as the open-air cinema season kicks off today.
The courtyard of the Kulturhaus Osterfeld, a special protected location, will be transformed into an outdoor cinema, boasting approximately 1,000 seats. This picturesque setting, favoured by Christine Müh, the managing director of the Kommunales Kino Pforzheim, promises an unforgettable cinematic experience.
The season will commence with the premiere of "Die 1000 Glotzböbbel vom Dr. Mabuse," a unique Swabian version of a film classic by comedian Dominik Kuhn (Dodokay), who will be present in person on Thursday.
On August 8, art enthusiasts can look forward to "Loving Vincent," a film produced entirely from oil paintings about artist Vincent van Gogh. The following week, on August 9, Franz and Rudi will return to the big screen with "The Greißnockern Affair."
For documentary lovers, August will also see the screening of "Egal was kommt," directed by Christian Vogel, on Saturday, with Vogel attending the event in Pforzheim.
Family entertainment is not forgotten, as "Jim Knopf and Lukas the Engine Driver" will offer classic family fun for all ages on August 30.
Christine Müh welcomes competition with another open-air cinema, the Rex Kinocenter, as it encourages learning about how two open-air cinemas can coexist in Pforzheim. Discussions are ongoing between Müh and the open-air cinema makers of the Rex Kinocenter regarding scheduling to avoid overlaps in the future.
Each ticket holder of the open-air cinema events in the Kulturhaus Osterfeld receives a "reserve ticket" for bad weather. In case of lighter showers, the open-air cinema continues to play outside and distributes rain ponchos. For more severe weather, the cinema has a flexible seating arrangement, with at least 350 seats and 100 standing places in the large hall available.
The open-air cinema season will run for 24 films, from calendar weeks 31 to 35, with the exception of the first week, where the first film will be shown on Thursday. "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" traditionally closes the open-air cinema season and is shown outdoors in any weather, encouraging audience participation.
