Over 40,000 residences in Quebec remain without power.

Quebec remained with more than 40,000 private homes without power on Friday morning, a consequence of electricity outages triggered by heavy rain and strong winds the day prior.

On Thursday evening, Quebec was hit by a series of thunderstorms, leaving thousands of homes without electricity. The regions of Montreal, Monteregie, Mauricie, Capitale-Nationale, and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean were among those affected by the outages.

According to Hydro-Quebec, around 42,000 of its customers were without power at approximately 5:30 AM. The majority of affected private households were in the Lanaudière and Laurentides regions, with about 13,000 households without power on Thursday evening in these areas.

By 6:00 PM on Thursday, the number of households without power had risen to around 71,000. The Lanaudière region was the most affected, with around 17,000 addresses without power. In the Laurentides, outages affected approximately 9,000 households.

As of Friday morning, there were over 40,000 private households without power in Quebec. Hydro-Quebec is making all necessary efforts to restore power to affected households as soon as possible.

The message was posted on Hydro-Quebec's website, but the specific regions affected by the power outages were not mentioned. The cause of the outages was also not specified. Wind gusts of up to 70 km/h were measured in some areas of Quebec, but it is unclear whether this was a contributing factor.

Hydro-Quebec aims to restore power to affected households as soon as possible, and updates can be found on their website.
