Over forty-five thousand individuals in Russia receive income above the million ruble mark.
In a recent report by the Statistics Service, it has been revealed that the number of high-paid workers in Russia has seen a significant increase. The data, based on the results of April, shows that 0.16% of all working Russians earn over 1 million rubles per month, a figure that almost doubles the 0.08% reported in 2023.
According to the report, a total of 34,399 people in Russia receive a salary of up to 2 million rubles per month, while 5,728 people earn between 2 million and 3 million rubles, and a mere 5,301 Russians earn more than 3 million rubles per month.
While the report does not specify the industries where most of these high-paid workers are employed, previous studies provide some insight. In 2021, the information and communication sector had 9,900 high-paid workers, with the majority of these individuals employed in trade (6,700 people), manufacturing (6,300 people), and financial and insurance companies (6,200 people).
The Statistics Service conducts an analysis of the distribution of employees' wages by size every two years. The most recent Rosstat study, conducted in 2021, was based on data from 28.4 million people from 95,400 organizations, excluding small businesses.
Looking forward, a recent study by the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation predicts the average desired income of Russians in 2025 will be 146,000 rubles. However, the study does not contain specific information about which cities in Russia have the highest salary expectations in 2025. The highest expectations for wage levels in 2025 were recorded in Makhachkala, Khabarovsk, and Moscow.
As the economy continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these trends unfold in the coming years. The Statistics Service is expected to release its next analysis in the near future, providing more insights into the distribution of salaries in Russia.
