The Independent Investigatory Commission on the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico has released a damning report, criticising the Lopez Obrador Administration for mismanagement that may have led to the preventable deaths of approximately 300,000 people.

The commission, a multidisciplinary group of researchers and professionals, has highlighted several issues that contributed to the high mortality rate during the pandemic. These include unclear guidelines for patient care in hospitals, insufficient staff, delays in obtaining protective equipment, and low-quality protective equipment.

One of the most controversial decisions made by the administration was the distribution of ivermectin to citizens by AMLO's coronavirus Czar and CDMX Mayor. The commission's report marks this move as a new low for pandemic mismanagement.

The commission also criticised the "Stay at Home" campaign, stating that it encouraged sick patients to stay home instead of seeking medical care. This decision, according to the commission, may have exacerbated the situation.

Official figures severely underestimate the death toll from COVID-19, reporting only about half the deaths that occurred, according to the commission. About 60 percent of patients sought medical attention from private clinics and pharmacies, where they received inadequate recommendations and medication.

It is unclear if this information will impact President Lopez Obrador's popularity or the Morena party's electoral success. The independent commission does not include any specific researchers or professionals named in the provided search results.

In a separate development, a travel warning has been issued following President Lopez Obrador's statement that the pandemic is reportedly worse in the US than in Mexico.

Despite these challenges, Mexico has managed to keep its COVID-19 situation under control compared to other countries. However, the commission's report serves as a stark reminder of the need for improved management and transparency in the handling of future pandemics.
