Pacific-crossing rowboat voyagers, Scot radically redefine dinner traditions with transoceanic pizza delivery
The Maclean Brothers' Record-Breaking Rowboat Journey
The Maclean brothers – Jamie, Ewan, and Lachlan – have successfully completed a remarkable feat, rowing across the Pacific Ocean from South America to Australia in 139 days. The brothers, who raised funds for their journey through their athletic achievement, supported the "Maclean Foundation," which aims to collect one million pounds for clean drinking water projects.
The brothers embarked on their journey in a custom-made boat named "Rose Emily." They covered approximately 9,000 miles (14,484 km) from Peru, breaking the previous record set by Russian Fedor Konyukhov in 2014. The journey was undertaken without a support boat or resupply, with the brothers taking turns rowing and relying on the half a ton (500 kilograms) of food they had on board.
The journey was not without its challenges. Ewan Maclean shared that there were times during the journey when they cried from sadness and fear. Jamie Maclean described the experience as "the most incredible, relentless, and often surreal experience of my life." As they neared the end of the journey, they had to push harder to avoid running out of supplies.
Upon their arrival, Jamie Maclean expressed a desire for a pizza. The brothers celebrated their arrival with family, marking the end of their record-breaking journey. The Maclean Foundation, which was established to support water projects, continues to collect funds raised during the brothers' journey.
The Maclean brothers' inspiring journey serves as a testament to human endurance and the power of determination. Their efforts to raise funds for clean drinking water projects will undoubtedly make a significant impact on many lives. The Maclean Foundation's goal of collecting one million pounds for water projects is now one step closer to reality.
