Palace authority challenged by Meghan Markle's assertions regarding formal dress etiquette within the Royal circle
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, recently appeared on The Circuit podcast to discuss her latest venture - the second season of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. During the interview, hosted by Emily Chang, Markle shared her feelings about a royal protocol she found uncomfortable during her time as a working royal.
Markle expressed discomfort with a protocol that required her to wear nude tights at public engagements. She revealed that she was forced to adhere to this rule, but questioned its necessity.
Jennie Bond, a former BBC royal commentator, has refuted Markle's claims about the rigidity of the royal protocol. Bond, who attended a Buckingham Palace garden party without tights, suggested that the protocol might not be as strict as Markle indicated. She considered the tights rule as a rather silly example and questioned whether Markle might have faced less trouble wearing different colored tights or going bare-legged at public engagements.
Markle's Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, is currently being promoted. In addition to sharing insights about royal life, Markle also shared a salad recipe from the series on her Instagram account.
No publicly named individual has been identified as opposing the strict royal protocol rules described by Markle; the information available only shows Markle herself publicly criticizing these rules.
As the second season of With Love, Meghan premieres, the public continues to follow Markle's journey post-royal life with great interest.
