"Pandion" held Grand Opening Ceremony
In the heart of Cologne, a significant building project is underway, transforming a former site into a modern residential complex and office space. The project, located on Volklinger Straße, is scheduled to be completed by mid-2023.
The winning design for this redevelopment, dubbed "Pandion," was chosen in a 2014 urban planning competition. The architectural firm responsible for this innovative design is Römer Kögeler and Partners, based in Cologne.
On a site of around 18,400 square meters, a total of 12,000 square meters of residential space will be built by mid-2023. The residential complex will consist of 81 owner-occupied apartments with two to four rooms and living spaces between 45 and 145 square meters, as well as 63 subsidized apartments.
Adjacent to the residential complex, an office building will rise, offering 5,400 square meters over 14 floors. The rectangular office building will be 50 meters high with 14 full floors, each flexibly divisible, combinable vertically, and accessible by two elevators.
Meanwhile, another quarter with around 700 apartments is planned for the Heerdt district by 2024, covering a total of around 66,000 square meters of gross floor area.
In a separate development, the Franciscan brothers moved from their monastery on Immermannstraße to an interim home in 2014, paving the way for a new building project on the same site. The exact details of this new building, however, are yet to be disclosed.
The building project on Immermannstraße reached a milestone with the topping-out ceremony, attended by approximately 200 guests. Klaus Küppers, head of project development at Pandion, expressed his delight at this significant step, indicating further projects in the city by Pandion.
It's an exciting time for Cologne as these new developments promise to reshape the city's skyline and provide much-needed residential and commercial space. Stay tuned for more updates on these projects.
