In a recent turn of events, Sarah Boesch, Head of Event and Guest Management at Säntis Cable Car AG, has expressed her understanding and apologized for an unfortunate incident involving Beat and Claude Merki, a couple on vacation in Switzerland.

The Merkis, who are Beat (63), a man suffering from COPD, a chronic and incurable lung disease, and Claude (61), a saleswoman at a butcher shop, had planned to enjoy a brunch on the Säntis on August 17th. They had paid 128 francs online for the Säntis brunch offer, which included train tickets.

However, their experience took an unexpected turn when they arrived at Schwägalp, finding the parking lot full due to the Schwingfest. They were directed to a spot far from the cable car station, and the way to the shuttle bus to the Säntisbahn was also far and led uphill, making it impossible for Beat Merki to reach.

During the initial call, Sarah Boesch regrets that her team's behavior was rude, and she apologizes for this incident. The Restaurant Säntis did not act wrongly legally, as there is no legal information obligation on the part of the mountain railways.

Fabienne Stich from the Consumer Department of the Beobachter Consultation Center has stated that the contract was fulfilled by the Säntisbahn. No information is provided about any compensation for the Merkis for their wasted money or missed experience.

In light of the incident, the Säntis Cable Car AG has offered the Merkis another opportunity to enjoy their brunch on the Säntis. However, no information is provided about any legal action taken or suggested against the Säntisbahn.
