Party-induced double homicide uncovered in Brokenwood's latest crime incident

In the upcoming episode of "Brokenwood - Murder in New Zealand," titled "A Deadly Celebration," Detective Fern Sims (Fern Sutherland) takes centre stage as the lead investigator, a first for her character in the popular series. This marks a significant change, as Detective Sims is standing in for the missing lead investigator Mike Shepherd.

The case in question revolves around the tragic death of Olivia and Fraser's mother, who was found dead in a hot tub, stabbed and impaled with a nearly meter-long beer glass.
