Pediatric Health Check-ups for Children in Government Schools and Kindergartens Throughout Chennai Now Offered for Free Through SIMS Hospital's 'Care Bears' Program

SIMS Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in Chennai, has launched an innovative community outreach program called 'Care Bears'. This initiative aims to provide free paediatric health check-ups for children under the age of five studying in Government Palvadi and Kindergarten schools across the city.

The comprehensive program includes screenings for growth parameters such as height, weight, and developmental milestones. It also extends to cognitive and emotional wellbeing, as well as additional assessments for chest deformities, dental hygiene, sensory health (vision and hearing), and overall physical wellness.

In line with its commitment to preventive healthcare and community well-being, Care Bears also features interactive awareness sessions for parents. These sessions focus on the importance of early intervention and nurturing a healthy child. The program offers regular screening, early diagnosis, nutritional guidance, and parent education, making it a holistic approach to paediatric care.

The Care Bears program is aligned with the World Health Day theme "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures". It is designed to be a starting point for collective action to ensure no child is left behind when it comes to basic healthcare and well-being.

At the launch event, Dr. Kalanidhi Veerasamy, Honourable Member of Parliament, presided over the proceedings. Dr. Raju Sivasamy, Vice President of SIMS Hospital, spoke about the importance of preventive healthcare for children. He emphasised that the program is a significant step towards making preventive paediatric care accessible to all.

A dedicated team of paediatricians and healthcare professionals from SIMS Hospital will conduct monthly visits to participating schools. The team is committed to investing in a future where children are given the healthiest possible start.
