Penguins Emerged Victorious, Outstripping DEG for Third Place in the NRW Cup Competition

In an exciting duel for bronze, the Krefeld Pinguins emerged victorious against the Düsseldorf EG at the Yayla Arena on Sunday. The final score was 4:3, securing Krefeld's third place in the NRW Cup.

The game started promisingly for Krefeld, with Jon Matsumoto scoring the first goal in the 9th minute, assisted by Davis Vandane and Mathew Santos. Roope Makitalo followed suit, netting a goal in the 13th minute, assisted by Maximilian Hops, giving Krefeld a comfortable 2:0 lead going into the first break.

Düsseldorf responded in the 29th minute with Emil Quaas scoring a consolation goal for the home team. However, the Pinguins managed to maintain their lead, thanks to Adam Payerl's crucial goal in the 48th minute.

The final period started poorly for Krefeld with a goal against, but they showed resilience, with Erik Bradford scoring a shorthanded goal for DEG in the 59th minute. Despite the pressure, Krefeld held onto their lead, securing the victory and the bronze medal.

The game statistics show that Krefeld secured a 3:4 (0:3, 1:0, 2:1) victory over Düsseldorf EG. Philip Gogulla also scored his first goal for Krefeld in the 25th minute, assisted by Max Newton.
