The Gera Art Collection is currently exhibiting a significant piece, "Sunset in the Hegau" (also known as "Hegaulandschaft am Abend"), by the renowned German artist Otto Dix. This painting is part of the exhibition "Otto Dix: Trust Your Eyes" at the Orangerie.

The exhibition, which features a new work from the Gera Art Collection, offers a glimpse into Dix's exploration and capturing of the impressions of the initially unfamiliar region around Lake Constance. Dix, who moved to Lake Constance in 1933, created "Sunset in the Hegau" as one of many works that depict the Lake Constance region throughout the seasons.

"Sunset in the Hegau" is a long-term loan from the Otto Dix Foundation in Vaduz, a source that has also provided other works by Dix for this exhibition. The painting is a representation of a sunset scene in the Hegau region, showcasing Dix's mastery of landscape painting, a focus he primarily pursued in the 1930s and 1940s.

In addition to "Sunset in the Hegau", the exhibition at the Orangerie also features a new work from the Gera Art Collection, offering visitors a comprehensive view of Dix's work and his connection to the Lake Constance region. The exhibition invites viewers to "Trust Your Eyes" and immerse themselves in Dix's captivating depictions of this picturesque region.
