Person from Upper Bavaria meets tragic end during mountaineering expedition

In the tranquil town of Ruhpolding, Bavaria, a tragic incident occurred on August 30, 2023, at the local climbing garden. A 58-year-old man, an experienced climber from the Traunstein district, lost his life in a climbing accident.

The emergency services were alerted at around 14:40, and nine rescue forces from Bergwacht Ruhpolding, along with a doctor, were swiftly dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they confirmed the unfortunate reality - the victim had suffered immediate fatal injuries.

The Alpine Deployment Group of the Bavarian Border Police in Piding and four police mountain guides were also called in to investigate the accident. Four patrol cars from Traunstein and Ruhpolding, as well as a police helicopter, were deployed to assist in the investigation.

The Traunstein Public Prosecutor's Office is also involved in the ongoing investigation, working diligently to determine the exact cause of the accident. The victim had reportedly been climbing alone, with a rope, when the incident occurred.

The man's partner found him lifeless at the foot of the climbing wall. The name of the victim, however, has not been publicly disclosed in the available sources.
