Wise Integrates with Filipino Payment Systems, Aiming for Financial Inclusion

In a significant development, global cross-border payments platform Wise has integrated with the Philippines' online payment systems, marking a step towards improved financial access for millions of Filipinos.

The integration includes the PESONet gateway, a system used for electronic fund transfers, and the real-time transfer service InstaPay. Wise has also connected with PhilPaSS Plus, a direct settlement system by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), the central bank of the Philippines.

This collaboration is expected to empower Filipinos towards financial inclusion. PSA Undersecretary and National Statistician Claire Dennis S. Mapa commented on the goal of the partnership, stating that it aims to provide a more efficient and accessible financial system for the country.

Wise Philippines Country Manager Areson I. Cuevas highlighted the removal of barriers to transparent, affordable international money transfers. He explained that the integration is aimed at removing limits and delays when Wise customers send large sums of money, such as for overseas tuition or remittances.

The integration with PESONet, in particular, has resulted in a reduction in fund transfer costs. For instance, a PHP 50,000 transfer to a US dollar account now incurs over 10% less fees due to Wise's integration.

The partnership with the PSA also includes the integration of Wise's platform with the National ID eVerify system. This allows for improved identity verification, as Filipino users can authenticate their Wise accounts using their National ID in card, paper, or digital format. With over 88 million Digital National IDs already available, this integration is set to benefit a large portion of the population.

The integration with the National ID eVerify system is expected to improve financial access, making it easier for Filipinos to send and receive international remittances and make cross-border payments.

Wise is committed to providing a seamless and affordable cross-border payments experience. With its direct connections with local payment systems, it is removing barriers to transparent, affordable international money transfers, and making financial services more accessible to everyone.
