Phoenix Mercury Secure Fifth Consecutive Win Against Indiana Fever

The Phoenix Mercury continued their impressive form in the 2025 season, extending their winning streak to five games with a hard-fought victory over the Indiana Fever. The final score at PHX Arena on September 02 was 85-79.

The Mercury entered the final period up by 10 points (67-57), but the Fever managed to cut the lead to single digits during the game. Despite the challenge, Phoenix held off Indiana's late drive to secure the victory.

Alyssa Thomas led the Mercury with an impressive stat line of 23 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists. Dewanna Bonner scored 19 points off the bench, while Satou Sabally contributed 13 points to the team's total.

The Mercury's record now stands at 26-14, with the team joining the Minnesota Lynx, Las Vegas Aces, Atlanta Dream, and themselves as qualifiers for the playoffs.

On the other hand, the Indiana Fever, with a record of 21-22, are still in contention for one of the remaining four playoff spots, with three games remaining in the regular season. Kelsey Mitchell scored 25 points for the Fever, along with four assists and four steals, while Lexie Hull added 15 points and five rebounds.

The Fever were without several key players due to injuries, including Chloe Bibby, Aari McDonald, Sydney Colson, and Sophie Cunningham. Star rookie Caitlin Clark, who has been sidelined with a groin injury, also missed her 19th straight game and has no verified return date.

In a surprising turn of events, Kahleah Copper left the game with a foot injury but returned later.

Several Phoenix Sun players, including Devin Booker, Jalen Green, and Dillion Brooks, were spotted courtside to support the Mercury.

The Mercury's coach, Nate Tibbetts, who achieved a five-game winning streak in the 2025 season, will look to continue the team's momentum as they head into the playoffs.
