Placing judgment on the Dallas Cowboys following the Micah Parsons trade: Justified or Unwarranted?

The Dallas Cowboys have said goodbye to All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons, who was traded to the Green Bay Packers last week. Parsons took to social media to bid farewell to Cowboys fans, expressing gratitude towards the organization, teammates, coaches, and staff.

In his message, Parsons did not express any bitterness or regret about the trade. Instead, he focused on his future with the Packers, stating that he will continue to live in North Texas during the offseason.

The Cowboys failed to qualify for the playoffs last season, but their roster still has talent, according to ESPN Insider Jeremy Fowler. The team has three former Day 2 edge rusher picks - Sam Williams, Marshawn Kneeland, and Donovan Ezeiruaku - ready to go.

The Cowboys will open the post-Parsons era against the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 regular season. The game will not take place at Lincoln Financial Field, as initially speculated. Instead, it will be held at Lincoln Financial Field and is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET.

Meanwhile, Parsons' next game will not be against the Cowboys, as the Packers will start the season against the Detroit Lions. The game between the Packers and Lions is scheduled to take place at Lambeau Field on Sunday afternoon.

Parsons' game against the Eagles will not occur during the 2025 regular season's opening week. The specific details of the game have yet to be announced.

The Cowboys are in a better position than most fans give them credit for, according to Fowler. The addition of George Pickens, a wide receiver who generated attention around the league, has played a significant role in this improvement.

It's worth noting that Philadelphia and Washington are considered a cut above the Dallas Cowboys in the division, according to Fowler. This leaves the Cowboys with a challenging road ahead as they navigate the post-Parsons era.

Despite this, Cowboys fans can take solace in the fact that Parsons signed a four-year, $188 million deal with the Packers, including $120 million fully guaranteed. This deal solidifies Parsons' status as one of the highest-paid defenders in the NFL.

As Parsons embarks on this new chapter of his career with the Packers, Cowboys fans can look forward to the team's promising future and the return of football in the fall.
