Polar's new wearable device is seen as the one Garmin should have released several months back according to recent expectations
Polar Introduces Screenless Fitness Tracker, the Polar Loop
In a move to challenge the fitness market, the Finnish tech company Polar has announced the release of its latest product, the Polar Loop. This screenless wearable, priced at £149.50 / €179.90 / $199.99 (AU price TBC), is set to provide an alternative for those seeking a screenless Garmin band for activity tracking.
The Polar Loop, similar to the Polar Verity Flow, straps an optical heart rate sensor to your wrist. It uses Polar's latest Polar Precision Prime sensor technology, which also powers the Polar Grit X2 and Polar Vantage V3. This technology ensures accurate heart rate monitoring, a key feature of the Polar Loop.
The Polar Loop is designed to track various metrics, including heart rate, activity, sleep, recovery, and training and recovery metrics. Users can initiate activities manually in the Polar Flow app to access advanced features like route recording, voice guidance, ready-made training targets, and more. The device is also capable of automatically recognizing certain activities.
Data from the Polar Loop is fed into the Polar Flow app, where users can monitor their progress and access a wealth of insights. Polar offers a newsletter for updates on tech, home, and active products, ensuring users are always informed about the latest developments.
Sander Werring, CEO at Polar, said, "The Polar Loop offers discreet, screenless experiences and redefines staying connected without a screen."
Interestingly, Garmin announced its own screenless wearable concept before Polar. However, instead of a fitness and recovery tracker, Garmin released a chunky sleep tracker.
The Polar Loop is available in Greige Sand, Night Black, and Brown Copper colorways. The device is now available for pre-order, with the official launch set for 10 September. The launch date for the Polar Loop in Australia is yet to be announced.
It's important to note that the Polar Loop is not similar to any previous Polar product mentioned in this article. Polar has offered heart rate monitors in the past, including the Polar H10, but the Polar Loop represents a new step in the company's product line.
For those interested in staying up-to-date with the latest fitness technology, the Polar Loop is a compelling option. With its focus on accuracy, versatility, and user-friendly design, it promises to be a valuable tool for fitness enthusiasts and casual users alike.
