Police Advisor Council on Church Services - Chairman of the Police, Gregor Lange

In a significant development, Gregor Lange has been appointed as the new chairperson of the advisory board for the Ecclesiastical Police Service of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia. The announcement was made during a meeting that took place on August 27, 2025, at the police headquarters auditorium.

The current advisory board comprises police chaplains, a theological advisor, seven police officers, a professor of police science, a psychologist, and Gregor Lange. The board is responsible for observing societal developments, problems in police daily life, and developing appropriate proposals for the police chaplaincy service.

Lange, who is also the Police President of Dortmund, expressed a positive conclusion at the end of the meeting. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the police and socially important organizations like the church, stating his intention to collaborate with the church to strengthen the trust of the population in the police institution.

Lange also highlighted his aim to recognize the needs of police employees and develop solutions with the church to promote mental health. He looks forward to the upcoming cooperation and contributing to a respectful and peaceful coexistence in society.

Five pastors are currently employed full-time in the field of the Ecclesiastical Police Service, which is a vocationally oriented functional service under the responsibility of the regional church. The service falls under the Regional Church of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia.
