Police are pursuing a driver under the influence in Koblenz

In an unexpected turn of events, a high-speed chase took place in the Birkenring area of Andernach on Tuesday evening at around 9:54 PM.

The incident began when a police patrol attempted to pull over a driver, suspected of being under the influence, in the raceway area. However, the driver ignored all signals and accelerated to over 100 km/h, evading the police.

The chase continued through the streets of Andernach, ending near Einsteinhof. The police were able to stop the vehicle eventually, but no further details about the driver's identity or the outcome of the chase were provided.

A breathalyzer test revealed that the driver had a blood alcohol level of 1.52%. This high reading indicates that the driver was significantly above the legal limit.

The driver will face charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving. Investigations into the driver's valid driver's license are still ongoing, as there is suspicion that the driver does not possess a valid license.

The Andernach Police Station reported the incident, urging drivers to always prioritise safety and abide by the law. This serves as a reminder that such actions not only put the driver's life at risk but also endanger others on the road.

As of now, no further details about the driver's identity or the outcome of the investigations have been released. The public is asked to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
