Police authorities at the federal level informed about security measures being enforced at Gelsenkirchen's main railway station, as reported by BPOL NRW.

Federal Police Enforce Ban on Dangerous Objects at Gelsenkirchen Central Station

The Federal Police have announced that they will be enforcing a ban on carrying dangerous objects at Gelsenkirchen Central Station from August 28 to August 31, 2025. This decision comes following a series of incidents where suspects or perpetrators were found carrying weapons or other dangerous objects at the station.

On August 28, the Federal Police made several seizures at the station, including several knives and a pepper spray. Previously, they had also seized imitation firearms, throwing stars, and batons. These incidents highlight the importance of the upcoming ban.

The area of validity includes the building complex of Gelsenkirchen Central Station, including the tracks. Posters will be displayed in the affected stations to inform passengers about the upcoming ban on the platform area.

The general provision applies to all persons who are present in or enter the area of validity. Violations of the ban can result in a ban from the premises, a ban from the station or transportation, as well as a fine of 200 euros. In the past months, a total of -63- incidents were recorded at Gelsenkirchen Central Station where suspects or perpetrators were carrying weapons or other dangerous objects. This underscores the need for increased security measures.
