Police detained an individual suspected of bicycle theft; seeking testimony from witnesses and the original bike owner

In the early hours of Friday, January 10, 2025, a 16-year-old suspect was taken into provisional custody by Stuttgart police for allegedly stealing an orange Orbea mountain bike at Marienplatz.

The suspect was observed near the cable car elevators around 4:15 AM, riding the stolen bike towards Rotebühlplatz via Tübinger Straße. During his escape, the suspect encountered a patrol car, but it's unclear if this interaction had any impact on his route.

The suspect discarded the bike in an unspecified location between Römerstraße and Hohenstaufenstraße. He then fled back towards these streets, leading officers on a pursuit that ended on Hauptstätter Straße, where he was apprehended by officers.

Investigations revealed that the suspect had broken the bike lock in an unknown manner. After completing police procedures, the suspect was handed over to his legal guardians.
