Police from the federal level apprehend a 20-year-old individual at Cologne/Bonn airport, as per BPOL NRW.

In an incident that took place at the Airport Cologne/Bonn on August 18, 2025, a 20-year-old Latvian national was arrested by federal police officers from the Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin during the departure control of a flight to London.

The individual was wanted for arrest by the public prosecutor's office in Hannover for a theft offense, for which the punishment carried a fine of €2,337.20 or alternatively 39 days in prison. However, the young man was unable to pay the required amount, leading to his arrest.

Besides the Hannover public prosecutor's office, the Latvian was also sought by the Gießen public prosecutor's office due to an investigation related to burglary, and additionally, two more warrants from the Hannover public prosecutor's office for theft were issued against him.

The federal police's consistent control prevented the suspect from leaving the federal territory undetected. As a result of the arrest, the individual was taken to Siegburg Prison.
