Police in North Rhine-Westphalia (BPOL NRW) seize weapons at Gelsenkirchen's principal station, capturing several knives and a can of pepper spray.
In a series of incidents over the past few days, federal police officers in Gelsenkirchen Central Station have seized several prohibited weapons.
On August 22nd at approximately 11:30 PM, a 28-year-old man was stopped by the officers. During a search, a butterfly knife was found on him. This folding knife, with two-part, swiveling handles on the same plane, is considered a prohibited item under the Weapons Act. The man exercised his right to remain silent and was allowed to leave the station.
The next day, on August 23rd, three incidents occurred. At around 7:00 PM, a 25-year-old woman and her 53-year-old companion were stopped by the officers. The man refused to hand over his ID documents during the search. A neck knife, ready to use, was found in his waist bag. The man was known to the police and was identified after the search. However, no specific details about an arrest were found in the search results. The woman, on the other hand, handed over a foreign pepper spray upon request, which is also a prohibited item. She stated that she had brought the pepper spray from Bulgaria. Both the woman and her companion exercised their right to remain silent and were allowed to continue their journey. The officers initiated an administrative offense procedure and secured the neck knife.
Around 7:10 PM on the same day, a 34-year-old man was also stopped by the officers. No further details about this incident were provided.
