Police in PPRP are searching for witnesses after an incident where individuals were sprayed with irritant gas and a bollard was fired, as reported by eyewitnesses.

On a fateful morning of January 17, 2025, an incident occurred at the Karolina-Burger-Realschule in Ludwigshafen, Germany. At around 10:28 AM, an unknown individual sprayed tear gas inside the school's building, causing a commotion among the students who were preparing for their break.

Simultaneously, a bomb exploded at the school's entrance, resulting in one student sustaining minor injuries. Approximately 10 other students were also lightly injured due to the tear gas.

In response to this unfortunate incident, the Rhineland-Palatinate Police Headquarters has initiated an investigation. The head of the Police University of Applied Sciences Rheinland-Pfalz, responsible for the investigation, is Friedel Durben. He took up his position at the end of September 2025 and is responsible for police education in Rheinland-Pfalz, including organisation and study programmes.
