Police in Ulm arrested four speeding racers, reaching 90 km/h, in a tunnel on Thursday night.
The Ulm police conducted speed checks in the Westring tunnel heading towards Neu-Ulm between 11:30 PM and 1:30 AM, and four drivers, including a truck driver, were found speeding.
According to the Police Headquarters Ulm, the fastest driver was 40 km/h over the speed limit. As a result, the truck driver was fined €340, received two points in Flensburg, and faces a one-month driving ban. Three other drivers also face fines and driving bans, as well as points on their driving records.
The police urge drivers to slow down, not to overestimate their abilities, and to account for others' mistakes. Speeding is one of the main causes of accidents, and accidents involving excessive speed often have severe consequences. A serious accident can have long-lasting effects on both victims and perpetrators.
