Police officers in Lübeck delving into bicycle programming
In an effort to enhance the security of bicycles, e-bikes, strollers, and mobility scooters, the Lübeck Police have announced a coding action taking place on May 2nd and 3rd, 2025. This action, carried out by the Polizei Lübeck, aims to make coded vehicles less attractive to potential thieves due to their increased difficulty to sell and easier traceability.
The action will take place at two locations: on May 2nd from 3 to 6 PM at the police station in Eichholz, and on May 3rd from 10 AM to 1 PM at the police station in Travemünde. No registration is required, and police officers will be available on site to answer any questions about theft protection.
The costs for bicycle coding are 18 euros, 28 euros for e-bikes including the battery, and 10 euros for strollers or mobility scooters. Good security remains crucial, and the police recommend securing bicycles and e-bikes with stable locks and keeping important documents such as receipts.
A photo of one's own bike can also be helpful in case of emergency. Further information about coding can be found at www.fahrradcodierer.de. For additional advice and tips, residents can visit www.polizei-beratung.de.
It's important to note that coded vehicles are harder to sell and can be more easily traced back to their owner. This action serves multiple purposes, including security and convenience. So, take advantage of this opportunity to secure your vehicle and enjoy a safer cycling experience in Lübeck.
