"Political Altercation"; Sheinbaum responds to Döring's accusation against Andy López Beltrán for suspected fuel theft

In a significant development in Mexico's ongoing fight against fuel theft, also known as fiscal huachicol, 14 individuals, including officials from the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), have been detained. Among them is Antonio Martínez, a former executive in Tamaulipas Customs, known for his involvement in the huachicol network.

The Attorney General's Office, with the support of the Navy and SSPC, conducted the investigations that led to these detentions. This joint effort is a clear demonstration of the President's commitment to zero impunity in the fiscal huachicol matter.

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reaffirmed her stance, stating, "Zero impunity, I'll go as far as I can." She emphasised the importance of building an investigation file with sufficient evidence to demonstrate involvement, not just making accusations.

The President has been firm in her approach, asserting that any accusation against anyone, whether a public official or not, must be based on evidence. She has also labelled criticism as "pure politicking," a stance she took when responding to a complaint filed by PAN federal deputy Federico Döring Casar.

Döring Casar's complaint is related to alleged offenses related to fiscal huachicol. However, the President did not provide any specific details about the evidence or the nature of the alleged offenses in the complaint. She has, however, implied that she has information about Federico Döring Casar that she may reveal in the future.

The detention of Antonio Martínez is a significant development in the investigation into the huachicol network. Martínez, who was once active in the customs of Tamaulipas, is also known for his past as a taco seller and car collector.

President Sheinbaum has been steadfast in her fight against corruption, stating that the investigation of the complaint is not for the federal executive, but for the Prosecutor's Office. She has also labelled Döring Casar as a person known for his corruption.

The President's actions serve as a reminder that she is committed to her promise of zero impunity for corruption. The detentions, including that of Martínez, are evidence of this commitment and demonstrate zero impunity for corruption in the fiscal huachicol case.

The investigations into the fiscal huachicol crime are ongoing, and it remains to be seen what further developments will unfold in this ongoing battle against corruption.
