Political Stalemate Over Tinubu's Removal: Lagos APC Challenges Tambuwal's Efforts

In a recent development, Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC spokesman, has refuted claims made by former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, regarding a national consensus to prevent President Bola Tinubu from returning to power in 2027.

During an appearance on a television programme last Friday, Tambuwal asserted that there is a consensus among the opposition to stop Tinubu's re-election. However, Oladejo dismissed this statement as "another failed attempt to rewrite the obvious truth."

Oladejo described the consensus as a collective support for good governance, rather than a concerted effort to exclude Tinubu from the 2027 elections. He further advised Tambuwal to focus on clearing his name before anti-graft agencies, as recent revelations have not painted him in a flattering light.

Tambuwal, in response, mocked the opposition, stating they are struggling to build an elusive alliance, sabotaged by their own greed, inflated egos, unbridled desperation for power, and self-righteousness. He also insisted that the consensus is a collective national agenda rather than a northern conspiracy.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has expressed support for Tambuwal's candidacy in the 2027 presidential elections.

Oladejo, on the other hand, asserted that President Tinubu was elected by Nigerians from every region, faith, and background, not imposed. He maintains that while the opposition plays "musical chairs and media politics," the government is building roads, creating jobs, fixing power, reforming the economy, and laying the foundation for a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria.

The Tinubu administration's Renewed Hope Agenda, according to Oladejo, is already producing results in stabilizing the economy, tackling infrastructure deficits, and creating jobs. He insists that unlike the noise-makers in the opposition, President Tinubu has hit the ground running.

Nigerians, according to Tambuwal, are watching the opposition's struggles. As the 2027 elections approach, it remains to be seen how these developments will shape the political landscape of the country.
