Nicole Bowyer's Gaming License on the Line

Potential Revocation of Resorts World License Linked to Wife of Bookie Involved in Ohtani Scandal

Looks like Nicole Bowyer, the spouse of the bookie embroiled in Shohei Ohtani's interpreter betting scandal, could be losing her casino license with Resorts World Las Vegas.

Nicole pocketed some dough from Resorts World Las Vegas, but there may be consequences.

The looming license revocation stems from a Nevada Gaming Control Board complaint dating back to August. The complaint alleges Nicole accepted funds from Resorts World Las Vegas, knowing at least some of her husband Mathew Bowyer's funds came from illicit sources.

Nicole works as an independent agent for the Genting-owned casino, but her gig might be up if the Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) accepts a proposed settlement for the complaint against her at its next meeting.

Terms of the Settlement

On Thursday, the NGC will ponder a settlement where Nicole fesses up to all charges from the Attorney General's office. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, as part of this settlement, Nicole consents to have her Nevada gaming license with Resorts World yanked for a minimum of five years.

After serving this five-year term, Nicole could reapply for licensing, but by admitting the AG's charges she relinquishes her right to a public hearing and any further judicial review of the commission's decision.

Nicole must help out the NGCB, feds, and local law enforcement

The settlement demands that Nicole aides the NGCB, federal, and state/local law enforcement. Information she discloses under this settlement might be used to support other pending cases under NGCB consideration.

The settlement was enacted after Mathew was rumbled for taking thousands in wagers from Shohei Ohtani's former interpreter Ippei Mizuhara, who later fessed up to stealing nearly $17m from the ballplayer to cover debt owed to Mathew.

Mathew copped a plea deal before the NGCB lodged the complaint against his wife in August, on the same day the Board filed a disciplinary complaint against Resorts World Las Vegas.

Continuing Woes for Resorts World

The news of Nicole potentially losing her license with the Vegas Strip casino owned by Malaysia-based Genting adds to the turmoil facing Resorts World.

The NGCB's 12-count complaint against Resorts World essentially brands the casino as a hotspot for criminal activity. The NGCB extended the casino's deadline to respond to its complaint to December 9.
