Power Outages Discussed in Oglesby and Princeton
On Thursday morning, two separate power outages affected the cities of Princeton and Oglesby.
In Princeton, crews were working to restore power due to a generator failure. The power outage affected the city as a whole, and it is possible that some customers in downtown western Princeton are still without power on Friday morning. The city's electric department is working diligently to identify the causes and resolve the issue completely, as typical utility responses often involve repairs and safety checks that delay restoration.
Meanwhile, in Oglesby, a main transformer at the Mallick Substation failed on Wednesday night, causing the west end of the city to lose power. The power outage in Oglesby was due to this transformer failure at the Mallick Substation. As of late Thursday morning, all residential customers in Oglesby's west end should have had their power restored. However, commercial customers who are still experiencing power issues are being worked on by crews.
It is important to note that these power outages in Princeton and Oglesby occurred independently of each other. The power outage in Princeton was not related to the Mallick Substation issue in Oglesby.
The power outage in Princeton did not affect only the west end of the city. The failure caused the west end of Oglesby to lose power as well.
The electric departments in both cities are working tirelessly to ensure that power is restored as quickly and safely as possible. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
