Formula 1 News: Norris Tops Second Practice Session at High-Speed Monza Circuit

Lando Norris secured the fastest time in the second free practice session at the Formula 1 race at Monza, Italy on Saturday, July 16. The British driver set an impressive lap time during the session, narrowly ahead of Charles Leclerc.

Norris's strong performance comes after a retirement due to a McLaren defect during the previous race in Zandvoort. His teammate, Oscar Piastri, is currently leading the Formula 1 World Championship standings with 34 points, followed closely by Norris.

The Italian Grand Prix, scheduled for Sunday at 15:00 CEST, will be broadcast on Sky. Max Verstappen qualified sixth for the race, after topping the first free practice session. Carlos Sainz finished fourth in the second free practice session, between teammate Piastri and Verstappen.

Nico Hülkenberg, the only German driver in the top ten, secured eighth position in the second free practice session. Kimi Antonelli had an issue during the session, spinning off the track and getting stuck in the gravel, requiring a crane for recovery.

The event at Monza is known for its high-speed circuit, with Norris topping the timesheets on this challenging track. Charles Leclerc finished second, 0.083 seconds slower than Norris.

The second free practice session took place at Ferrari's home Grand Prix, adding to the excitement and anticipation for the upcoming race. Lewis Hamilton finished fifth in the session, after topping the first free practice session.

The Italian Grand Prix promises to be an exciting race, with Norris aiming to close the gap on Piastri in the World Championship standings. Stay tuned for updates as the race unfolds on Sunday.
