SG Weilimdorf Faces Challenges Ahead of New Season

The wrestling team SG Weilimdorf is gearing up for the new season, but not without its fair share of changes and challenges. Due to a fire in June 2024, their training hall is currently unusable, forcing them to train in a tennis hall temporarily.

The venue for their matches, however, remains the same - Lindenbachhalle. The team's coach Kemal Demir has been in his position since 2009, with Behar Rohleder joining in 2014.

In a surprising turn of events, the wrestler Jason Partenheimer, who competes in the 75 kilograms category, has suffered a severe injury, a torn cruciate ligament, which ends his season before it has even begun. This unfortunate incident has led to a correction of SG Weilimdorf's season's goal, with the primary focus now shifting towards "class retention" in the Regionalliga.

The championship race in the Regionalliga is expected to be intense, with the promoted Freiburg and the local rival KSV Musberg being considered versatile and well-staffed in the individual weight classes, according to Markus Laible, the sports director of SG Weilimdorf. The season for SG Weilimdorf kicks off with a derby against KSV Musberg.

SG Weilimdorf has seen some notable departures and arrivals. Hikmet Akyol has left his coaching position at SG Weilimdorf to join KSV Unterelchingen. Balazs Racs has left the team to join TV Traunstein, while Vadim Singer has joined SG Weilimdorf from their own youth system. Krisztian Gabor Angyal has also joined the team from TV Geiselhöring.

The youth training units of SG Weilimdorf are urgently in need of their actual training hall due to daily activity. The renovation work for the training hall was expected to be completed by now, but it is not.

In a positive note, Karoly Barath is scheduled to join SG Weilimdorf in the second half of the season. Csaba Vida will compete in the 80kg class in the first half of the season and the 86kg category in the second half.

Unfortunately, the wrestlers Markus Holderbaum, Lukas Zöbelein, and Erik Ruser will be missing at the home match against KSV Musberg on Saturday evening. Despite these challenges, the team is determined to give their best and make the most of the season.
