Preferred the original Scrubs ending, yet unconcerned that Scrubs reboot may tarnish it

The much-anticipated reboot of the beloved medical comedy-drama, Scrubs, is set to premiere during the 2025-2026 TV season. The series, which originally ran for seven seasons on NBC, has been given a straight-to-series order by ABC.

Fans of the show can rejoice as the original stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke will be returning to their roles. Besides these three, Judy Reyes (as nurse Carla Espinosa) and John C. McGinley (as Dr. Perry Cox) will also appear in recurring guest roles.

Scrubs ended on a high note with its eighth season, earning a 100% "Fresh" score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The season 8 finale is still considered one of the best series finales of the 21st century. However, the spin-off series, Scrubs: Med School, received a less favourable Rotten Tomatoes score.

The original Scrubs series followed the lives of medical interns, residents, and staff at Sacred Heart Hospital. Scrubs: Med School, on the other hand, focused on a group of new medical students. JD's internal monologue/narration was taken over by one of the new students in this spin-off.

The reboot is expected to bring whimsy and hope back into viewers' lives, much like the original series did. However, it may not change the perception of how Scrubs ended for many fans. The impact of Scrubs: Med School on the legacy of Scrubs was minimal.

If you're new to Scrubs or want to refresh your memory, the show can be streamed on Hulu or Peacock. Unfortunately, Scrubs was not renewed for a seventh season by NBC.

It's worth noting that the success or failure of the Scrubs reboot is about par for the course with reboots, according to the original run of the show.
