In a potential transfer shakeup, Djordje Petrovic, the 25-year-old goalkeeper who spent last season at BlueCo sister club Strasbourg, is on the brink of a move to Bournemouth.

Petrovic, who joined Chelsea from Major League Soccer outfit New England Revolution in 2023, had a successful stint in Ligue 1, where he conceded the second-fewest goals among goalkeepers, just 38 in 31 league appearances. He also boasted the highest save percentage and saved 9.9 goals above expected.

However, his return to Stamford Bridge was not in the cards as he was omitted from Enzo Maresca's Club World Cup squad. Now, it seems, he is set to leave permanently.

Fabrizio Romano reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Bournemouth are confident they can get the deal done, and Petrovic himself has accepted the offer. Chelsea is expected to give the final green light for the transfer soon.

At Bournemouth, Petrovic is likely to be the first-choice goalkeeper, with Kepa Arrizabalaga, who was on loan at the club last season, having signed for Premier League title hopefuls Arsenal.

Chelsea could move to strengthen their goalkeeping depth by sending 19-year-old Mike Penders on loan to Strasbourg in Petrovic's stead. Filip Jorgensen, who is currently the primary understudy to Petrovic at Chelsea, with Gaga Slonina yet to play for the club, might also be in line for more game time.

It's worth noting that there is no direct information linking Andoni Iraola, the Bournemouth manager, to Djordje Petrovic or his potential move to the Cherries.

Bournemouth also signed Alex Paulsen from Wellington Phoenix last summer but sent him on loan to Auckland for their debut A-League season. The arrival of Petrovic could signal a renewed focus on the Premier League for the club.

Petrovic finished seventh in Ligue 1 under Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior, a promising performance that caught the eye of Bournemouth scouts. If the deal goes through, it will mark another promising chapter in Petrovic's career, as he looks to establish himself as a key player in the Premier League.
