In the thrilling Conference League quarterfinals, Rapid secured a narrow 1-0 away victory over Djurgården. The match, played in chilly conditions, saw a dominant performance from Djurgården in the first half.

Rapid's goalkeeper, Niklas Hedl, made early saves against Djurgårdar IF, with one particular stop against Oskar Fallenius in the 34th minute standing out. However, Djurgården was more composed, aggressive in challenges, and active than Rapid, creating chances through Fallenius shots in the 51st and 56th minutes, and a Priske header in the 59th minute.

The first half ended without a goal, setting the stage for an exciting second half. Rapid struggled in the cold temperatures during the second half, but a turning point came in the 62nd minute. Louis Schaub's dribble and cross led to an own goal by Hampus Finndell, giving Rapid a much-needed lead.

The goal seemed to boost Rapid's confidence, as they managed to hold on to their lead despite Djurgården's continued pressure. Guido Burgstaller, who had been absent due to a skull base fracture, returned to the Rapid team in the 85th minute, wearing a "special headband" for protection during headers and collisions.

Despite a late penalty claim by Burgstaller in the 94th minute, no penalty was awarded after a VAR review. Rapid's coach, Robert Klauß, introduced Seidl after the own goal, which seemed to stabilise the team's defence.

Ercan Kara missed a double chance from a corner, and Kara's shot was blocked in the nick of time in the 64th minute. A potential backpass from Moritz Oswald was not punished with an indirect free kick in the game.

The return leg will be played in Vienna next Thursday at 21:00 CET, with Rapid aiming to secure their place in the Conference League semi-finals. The outcome of the second leg promises to be as exciting as the first, as both teams fight for a spot in the next round.
