Primary School at Bültenweg Introduces New Addition

The city of Brunswick is set to modernize the Bültenweg Primary School, with completion planned for summer 2026. The project, which includes the renovation of the schoolyard and the construction of a new expansion, is scheduled for the 2025/26 school year.

The new building, costing approximately 14.7 million euros, will house a cafeteria and after-school care rooms on the upper floor. On the ground floor, new changing rooms for the adjacent sports hall and rooms for full-day operation with direct access to the schoolyard will be provided.

Barrier-free access has been consistently implemented in the planning of the new building, ensuring it caters to all students. The new expansion has been converted into a full-day primary school due to the need to increase capacity from new residential areas in the school district.

Forward-looking technologies will be used in the new building, making it a shining example of modern education facilities. The upper floor also accommodates a cafeteria that can double as an event space, further enhancing the school's offerings.

The ground floor of the two-story new building will also house new changing rooms for the adjacent sports hall and rooms for full-day operation with direct access to the schoolyard. The previously asphalted schoolyard area will be redesigned and equipped with modern play equipment, providing a safe and enjoyable space for students.

Mayor Dr. Thorsten Kornblum symbolically handed over the key to the new building on August 28, 2023. The schoolyard modernization is part of the overall project, which also involves the local school administration, municipal education authorities, and possibly local government or community organizations responsible for education and childcare.

Care at the school will be provided in cooperation with the youth centres 'B 58' and 'Brunsviga'. The new building at the Bültenweg Primary School adheres to the latest requirements of the Building Energy Act (GEG), ensuring energy efficiency and sustainability.

The existing school building had previously been renovated and restructured. The renewal of the storm and rainwater drains is also part of the modernization of the schoolyard at the Bültenweg Primary School. The completion of this project marks a significant step towards providing quality education and care for the growing number of students in the area.
