Prime Minister Sets Off to SCO Summit, Business Trip to China

In a significant diplomatic move, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is visiting China from August 31 to September 1, attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025 in Tianjin.

The SCO Summit, expected to gather over 20 world leaders, offers an opportunity for Vietnam to share and discuss concrete measures to enhance dialogue and strengthen multilateralism, aiming to maintain regional stability and security, as well as promote sustainable development cooperation.

The visit is for the SCO Summit 2025, and it signifies the recognition of Vietnam's role and position by SCO member states. The recognition reflects the interest of SCO member states in Vietnam's views on regional and global security, political, and development issues.

Besides the head of state of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping, the SCO Summit 2025 in Tianjin was attended by the heads of state and government of Russia and India, specifically including Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Other member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization also participated, including Pakistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and others.

The partnership carries strategic significance, particularly in enhancing substantive cooperation in economy, trade, investment, and major strategic infrastructure projects. During his trip, PM Chinh will meet with Chinese leaders, officials from ministries and sectors, and representatives from businesses to further deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the Vietnam-China community with a shared future.

The visit is also a working visit to China, and it marks a milestone in the growing relationship between Vietnam and the SCO member states.
