Prior Warning: 2025 Hurricane Season Alert - International SOS Advises Immediate Business Preparation
International SOS Urges Companies to Prepare for Natural Disasters and Upcoming Hurricane Season
In the wake of increasing natural disasters, the International SOS Group, a global leader in security risk management, health, and well-being, is urging companies to take proactive measures to ensure the safety of their employees and maintain business continuity.
According to the International SOS Risk Outlook Report 2025, more than half of the surveyed companies reported direct impacts from natural disasters in 2024. This underscores the importance of disaster preparedness, a topic that the International SOS Group has been addressing for the past 40 years.
To help companies better prepare, International SOS has launched a new digital learning portfolio focusing on natural disasters. The portfolio consists of five interactive micro-learning modules, each covering various scenarios such as tropical storms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, and extreme heat.
The modules offer practical guidelines to improve individual and organizational resilience. They recommend employee training on necessary supplies for evacuation or on-site accommodation, evaluating evacuation options, securing on-site accommodation if evacuations are not possible, and preparing communications, conducting crisis drills, and providing psychosocial support after extreme weather events.
The portfolio also suggests setting criteria for evacuations and enabling remote work in case of an emergency. In case of a security incident, epidemic, extreme weather, or other business-disrupting events, International SOS responds immediately with tailored solutions.
As the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season approaches, International SOS warns that it is expected to be above-average, with between 13 and 18 named storms, including up to five major hurricanes of Category 3 or higher. The Group advises companies to plan for possible disruptions in operations and travel.
However, the report shows that while many companies have developed emergency plans, they often insufficiently consider the impact on employees. A quarter of companies with existing plans report that health risks to employees are not adequately addressed.
International SOS serves over 9,000 organizations worldwide and has almost 13,000 experts ready at over 1,200 locations in 90 countries. Despite the need for disaster preparedness, no search results mention specific companies preparing for the 2025 hurricane season according to International SOS recommendations.
In conclusion, as natural disasters become more frequent, it is crucial for companies to prioritize the safety of their employees and the continuity of their operations. International SOS provides comprehensive solutions to help companies navigate through these challenges, offering a new learning portfolio and immediate response in case of emergencies.
