Prison Escape of Wanted 41-Year-Old Man Due to Payment by His Sister From BPOLI MD

In a recent turn of events, a Hungarian man found himself in legal trouble after being caught driving without a valid license in Halle (Saale), Germany.

On June 30, 2025, a patrol of the Federal Police at Halle (Saale) Central Station identified the man as wanted. The man had previously been sentenced by the Halle (Saale) Local Court in January 2020 to a fine of 1920 euros or a substitute custodial sentence of 160 days for the same offense. However, he had failed to pay the fine in installments, leading to the issuance of a warrant for his arrest by the Halle (Saale) Public Prosecutor's Office in May 2025.

Upon his arrest and subsequent detention at the central station, the man was taken to the police station. His sister stepped forward and paid 870.50 euros, which allowed him to avoid imprisonment and leave the police station as a free man.

The man still had a remaining substitute custodial sentence of 60 days to serve. It is unclear at this time whether he has served this sentence or if any further action has been taken.

The Federal Police Inspectorate Magdeburg, led by Markus Pfau, handled the case. For any further questions, you can contact them at +49 (0) 391-56549-505, via email at [email protected], or on Twitter at @bpol_pir.

It is a reminder to all drivers to ensure they are properly licensed and up-to-date with their payments to avoid similar situations. Driving without a license is a serious offense and can lead to significant consequences.
