The Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Bundesbeauftragte fΓΌr den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit) is the official responsible for data protection in the German federal government and its foreign missions. As of 2025, this position is held by Ulrich Kelber.

Personal data is collected and processed for event organization purposes when attending events organized or co-organized by the Federal Foreign Office and German missions abroad. The data collected for event purposes may be transmitted to cooperation partners who may only use the data for the purpose of properly carrying out the event. The data will only be stored as long as it is necessary for the organization and implementation of the events and for the tasks in the field of public relations.
