Proposal for a safety measure against electronic device-related hazards for workers is requested from the Commission.
In a series of recent statements, outgoing Minister President of Baden-Württemberg, Winfried Kretschmann, has expressed his views on various topics, including his plans to depart from politics, his criticism of the Stuttgart 21 rail project, and his thoughts on party politics.
Kretschmann, who will leave politics in the spring of 2026, has shown indifference about attending the opening of Stuttgart 21, a controversial rail project planned for a partial opening in late 2026. He has also questioned the claim that Stuttgart 21 was the best-planned project of the Bahn, stating that the difficulties and weaknesses predicted for the project have occurred.
The Green Party leader has been a vocal critic of the Stuttgart 21 project, expressing sharp criticism and calling it illusionary and wrong. He argues that a modernized main station would have been the best solution for Stuttgart 21.
Kretschmann has not shied away from expressing his opinions on party politics either. He has advocated for his party to position itself in the political center, referring to the Greens as the only bourgeois opposition party in Berlin and encouraging them to assume this role. He warns that if the Greens continue to follow the Federal Green Youth, they will end up in a niche.
Kretschmann has also criticized the confrontational course between democratic parties, calling for a more cooperative approach. He believes that there should not be three parties in the Bundestag fighting for the most radical redistribution policy in Germany, as this topic is already occupied by the Left and the SPD.
In addition to these issues, Kretschmann has mentioned that there are major challenges ahead, including the difficult financial situation of municipalities. He acknowledges that being a Minister President is strenuous and burdensome, but feels that he is not the youngest anymore and is ready to retire.
As Kretschmann prepares to leave politics, his views and opinions will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the political landscape of Germany.
