The city of Donaueschingen has taken measures to address the issue of excessive speeding on the Donaueschingen Road, following repeated incidents of damage to a traffic-slowing element on the road.

The damaged element, a side-room that narrows the road, has been replaced twice due to hit-and-run incidents. Currently, it stands at the roadside, as the city has installed speed humps, known as 'Berlin pillows', to control speeds along the stretch.

Regular speed checks are taking place along the entire length of the Donaueschingen Road, and the city's focus remains on intensified control, especially of speeds. The city spokesman, Specht, did not disclose the exact measurement rhythms of the speed checks, but assured that the measures affect only the speeders, uninvolved parties are not affected.

The city is observing an active "poser scene" on the Donaueschingen Road, and is in talks with various actors to significantly reduce meetings on parking lots, such as at Rewe. However, Specht reported no corresponding displacement of excessive speeding to other roads.

The city's repertoire of measures is not yet exhausted, and Specht emphasised that the focus remains on intensified control. He also mentioned that more stable elements could cause more damage to vehicles, and no changes are planned for the elements at the moment.

The identities of the perpetrators who repeatedly damaged the elements on Donaueschingen Straße and then fled are still unknown. Witnesses describe one suspect as light-skinned, aged between 30 and 45 years, but no definitive identities have been reported. The suspects managed to escape before police arrived.

The city is monitoring the situation closely and will continue to take necessary actions to ensure road safety for all users. Each damaged element costs approximately 300 euros to replace, and hit-and-run is a crime. The perpetrators' vehicles may have been damaged, potentially making identification easier.

The city encourages all road users to respect speed limits and drive responsibly to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road.
