Proposal requested for new directive safeguarding workers from hazards associated with ionizing radiation exposure, according to Commission.
In the upcoming autumn wage round, metalworkers are set to begin negotiations on September 22. Amidst these discussions, Reinhold Binder, the head of the production trade union Pro-Ge and a National Council member of the SPO, has made it clear that he opposes any pension agreement below the adjustment value of 2.7%.
Binder, a prominent figure in Austrian labour politics, is open to talks about pensions but finds it unacceptable that minimum pensioners would not receive the full adjustment. He believes that in crisis phases, creative and vigilant steps may be necessary.
The focus, according to Binder, is on inflation. He has informed employers that the rolling inflation rate is currently at 2.8 percent. He also emphasises the need for representations that strengthen purchasing power, stating that the inflation adjustment is not a set mantra.
Binder's stance contrasts with the demand for a zero-wage round coming from industry circles. However, Binder firmly rejects this idea, advocating instead for fair and equitable pension agreements.
The Austrian Press Agency (APA), one of the owners of Austrian daily newspapers and the ORF, is the largest national news and press agency in Austria. Based in Vienna, the APA provides news coverage across the country and beyond.
Despite the ongoing discussions, it remains to be seen how the autumn wage round will unfold. One thing is certain, though: Reinhold Binder will continue to advocate for the rights and interests of workers in Austria.
